No binding contracts, no confusing paperwork — here's exactly what happens when you reach out.
Free Consultation
Call or request a visit. We'll talk through your family's situation and answer every question — no pressure, no obligation.
Your Personalized Care Plan
We build a non-medical care plan around your loved one's actual needs and routines. For clinical guidance, we refer to licensed RNs, LVNs, and other qualified medical professionals — we don't employ them, but we work closely with them.
Meet Your Care Team
We match you with a small, consistent roster of caregivers — and care can start as soon as your family is ready.
THE CUSTOM CARE STANDARD
A different kind of care, by design
Four commitments that shape every client relationship — not marketing language, but how we actually operate.
01
Personalized Care Plans
Every plan of care is designed around your loved one's specific needs, routines, and preferences. Our caregivers provide non-medical assistance with daily living. For clinical guidance, we refer to licensed RNs, LVNs, and other qualified medical professionals — we are a licensed Home Care Organization, not a medical agency.
02
Consistent Caregiver Matching
You'll meet your care team — a small, familiar roster matched to your family, not a rotating cast of strangers.
03
Our Reliability Promise
With a large local caregiver team, we can usually send a familiar backup if someone can't make a shift — instead of leaving you stranded. For guaranteed backup coverage, some clients add a second cross-trained caregiver to their care team.
04

Why it matters who employs your caregiver
Home care agencies in the Valley don't all work the same way. Here's the distinction, plainly, so you can ask the right questions before choosing anyone.
Insured, Licensed & Thoroughly Vetted
- Caregivers are our W-2 employees — trained directly by us, never contracted out
- Every caregiver is listed on the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Home Care Aide Registry
- DOJ & FBI background clearance is obtained before anyone is ever hired or assigned to a client
- Insured and bonded by Custom Care Solutions on every assignment
- Care plans are designed around your loved one's specific needs and routines
- One point of accountability — if something isn't working, you call us, not a contractor
A different model, common in this industry
- Caregivers are often independent contractors, not employees of the agency
- The family or the caregiver may carry more of the liability and insurance responsibility
- Training and supervision can vary from caregiver to caregiver
- The agency's role can end at the introduction, with less ongoing oversight
- Accountability can be less clear once care is underway
Not every agency operates the same way, and this isn't true of all of them — always ask directly how a home care company employs and supervises its caregivers before choosing one. We're happy to answer this question in detail during your free consultation.
Our Story
A Legacy That Began Before We Did
Custom Care Solutions was founded in 2011 — but our roots in home care go back decades before that.
Joan Walker
Pioneer & Matriarch
Joan Walker spent her career reshaping what home care could be. As Executive Vice President of Homemakers Upjohn in Los Angeles during the 1960s and '70s, she helped set the professional standard for the industry. In 1981 she brought that vision to the Coachella Valley, founding Health Concepts, Inc. — one of only five licensed home care agencies in the Valley at the time. Her belief that families deserve consistent, credentialed, compassionate care became the foundation everything else was built on.
Mandy Calvano
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Mandy began learning the business at her grandmother Joan's side at age sixteen. When Joan passed in 2010, Mandy was serving as acting President. Rather than let the mission end, she founded Custom Care Solutions in 2011 — continuing the legacy in a licensed, professional setting built exactly the way she'd learned it should be done.
Misty Howell
Co-Founder & Director of Operations
Misty co-founded Custom Care Solutions alongside Mandy and has been the operational backbone since day one. She oversees caregiver scheduling, client care coordination, and the systems that ensure every family receives the consistent, reliable service they were promised.
Seth Howell
Director of Public Relations & Marketing
Seth leads public relations and marketing for Custom Care Solutions, shaping how the company connects with families, referral partners, and the broader Coachella Valley community.
Dom Calvano
Community Outreach Specialist
Dom brings deep community roots to his role. As Co-Founder and sitting President of Alzheimer's Coachella Valley, he bridges Custom Care Solutions with the broader network of families and organizations committed to dignified aging.
Patricia Riley, MBA
Office Manager
Patricia brings a strong business background and a calm, organized presence to day-to-day operations. She keeps the administrative side running smoothly — supporting the team, coordinating with families, and ensuring every interaction is handled with professionalism.
Odessa Taft
Client Care Coordinator
Odessa is often the first voice families hear when they reach out to Custom Care Solutions. Her warmth and attentiveness set the tone for every client relationship, and her dedication to matching the right caregiver to each family reflects the company's core values.
BEHIND THE SCENES
A real office. A real team. Real accountability.
This isn't a call center or a referral desk — it's where our personalized care plans are built, where caregivers are trained and supported, and where your calls are answered by people who know your name.
